Route 66  1926-1937 Alignment

Route 66 the "Mother Road" has a great original route that will take you through some of the most beautiful countryside in New Mexico.  Along the way you will be able to visit Las Vegas, NM, which if you ever heard of the "Wild West", it all happened there. The town was there when the first traders traveled the Santa Fe Trail the first time. It was, for a time the largest city in the southwest. So plan on stopping by and pay us a visit.
Next on your way back to the "newer" road, you can make a stop in Santa Fe. Oldest City, oldest house, oldest everything.
To visit Las Vegas, from I-40 heading West head North on US Hwy 84 to Romeroville, on I-25 head north 6 miles and exit Las Vegas. Plan to Stay at the Historic Plaza Hotel (1882) or the Hotel Castaneda (1898).
From I-40 heading East, take I-25 north to Santa Fe and then continue on to Las Vegas via I-25 North.
And while you are on this alternate route, remember it was once all dirt and travelers were harassed by desperadoes.
